Photo exhibition

During my 4 month stay in South Africa, I took more than 2000 photos altogether. I did not have a professional camera, so I used a rather ordinary camera to shoot the photos. Once back home, I selected 80 photos for a photo exhibition. My exhibition was first displayed from January 3-16, 2006, in the National Library of Estonia.

The exhibition concentrates on my project and my experiences in Khayelitsha, since this is something quite unique which people (in Europe) don't encounter every day, while any tourist can go to South Africa and take photos of the popular sights and the beautiful nature not even knowing about life in the townships. The title of the exhibition is "The Contrasts of South Africa: Life in Khayelitsha."

After displaying the exhibition in the National Library, I have lent it to Estonian schools, including 2 rural schools. Each time, I have gone to the school to open the exhibition and talk about my experience in South Africa and development issues in general.

The exhibition is available for schools to borrow upon request.
